Bree Brown started her career at Ramsay’s Port Macquarie Private Hospital twenty-five years ago as a new graduate and she hasn’t looked back, commencing as the Director of Clinical Services in December 2022.

“Soon after commencing my employment at Port Macquarie, I realised I loved operating theatres. I moved into theatres the very next year and did my Perioperative Certificate the following year,” Bree said.

“I eventually went on to become the floor manager and then the Perioperative Manager in theatres over the next 15 years.”

In 2021 Bree took on the role of Deputy Director of Clinical Services and continued to look after the perioperative environment and backfill as relief to the director.

“I now have the exciting role of not only directing the day-to-day management of the hospital, but also growing passionate leaders and nurses for the future.”

“My key TO WIN focus areas are in length of stay management and consumer engagement. Our other exciting project is our expansion of the theatre, central sterile services department and the surgical ward.”

Bree said she has stayed at Port Macquarie so long because of the people.

“I have always worked at Port Macquarie Private and I continue to work here because I appreciate the people I get to work alongside every day and I love the impact that we can and do have on our community,” Bree said.

When asked about her future, Bree said: “I enjoy my job and my favourite things are the people in our team and the diversity of things that can occur in my day.”

“My next steps are working towards learning more about leading successful teams wherever that may take me. My career ambition is to do the job I am doing well and leave a legacy of finding joy in what you do.”
