Prof. Mayank Bhandari is a Specialist General Surgeon with a focus on hepatobiliary surgery. His main area of focus is on benign and malignant diseases of the liver, gallbladder and pancreas. This includes resection of tumours of the liver, bile duct, gallbladder and pancreas, as well as management of pancreatitis, pancreatic cysts and benign lesions of the liver. Dr Bhandari is trained in minimally invasive approaches for gall bladder and liver resections.

Clinical Practice
Dr Bhandari takes a patient-centred approach to patient care and works as part of a multidisciplinary team, which offers coordinated management of medical conditions and disease. His current research interests include hepatocellular carcinomas and he regularly participates in liver and pancreas cancer research clinical trials. He believes in leading through example and does this by publishing his research results and educating the next generation of surgeons as an Adjunct Professor at Curtin University's Medical School.
Background and Training
After completing his surgical graduation and specialisation in India, Dr Bhandari moved to Australia in 2004 and has contributed extensively to the management of liver and pancreatic diseases since then. He did a PhD in pancreatology at Flinders University and was awarded with Paul McMaster Fellowship for advanced training in liver and pancreatic surgery at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, UK. Dr Bhandari also holds public appointments at Royal Perth Hospital and Fiona Stanley Hospital and treats private patients at Hollywood Private Hospital.
